Yoga & Yoga Therapy in Healthcare

Yoga and yoga therapy

Yoga Teacher Training (YTT)

Yoga is an ancient practice of adaptation to change. Through movement, breathing and meditation a person can learn to find balance in their body, mind, and spirit in a variety of situations. Gentle to advanced poses are incorporated. Yoga is an effective stress-management practice that promotes harmony, well-being, and a healthy lifestyle. Yoga is often taught in a class setting by an instructor who has completed a minimum 200-hour of teacher training.

Yoga Therapy Training (YT)

Yoga therapy is the individual applications of yoga tools and techniques to achieve health-related goals. Research suggests that yoga therapy may help relieve symptoms of pain, fatigue, depression, and anxiety.
At Corewell Health, yoga therapy is part of Integrative Medicine and is used to support patients in their healing process.  To become a yoga therapist a yoga instructor, after having completed the 200-hour yoga teacher training program, can enroll in an 800-hour yoga therapy training, which is divided in two parts:

  1. 300-hour Academic Yoga Therapy
  2. Clinical Yoga Therapy

Whether you wish to learn more about yoga to improve your personal practice and quality of life, you would like to teach yoga in your community, or you aspire to work as a yoga therapist in healthcare, you can train at Corewell Health Integrative Medicine.
