During the twelve month Cytopathology fellowship, the Fellow is required to perform a research project, which should lead to a poster or platform presentation at the Annual Meeting of the American Society of Cytopathology and/or publication in a refereed journal (Acta Cytologica, Diagnostic Cytopathology, or The American Journals Clinical Pathology).
Ancillary techniques such as immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, and molecular pathology are available for such purposes. The Fellow is given one day per week during the fellowship to complete their research project. Grant support from the Beaumont Hospital Research Institute is available. A special mini-grant program permits rapid review and approval for resident and fellow research proposals.
