Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak offers a one-year ACGME-approved Fellowship in Cytopathology. The division of cytopathology processes approximately 73,943 specimens per year (64,987 gynecologic, 5,779 non-gynecologic and 3,177 fine needle aspirates).
The Cytopathology Fellow is responsible for signing out gynecologic, non-gynecologic, and fine needle aspirates. In addition, the Fellow participates in weekly fine needle aspiration clinic, examination of all sentinel lymph nodes and adequacies of fine needle aspirations performed by the radiology department.
This program offers access to an outstanding range of cytologic cases, representing all of the major organ systems and specimen types typically encountered in the practice of cytopathology.
