Our History

Our Emergency Medicine residency has a long-standing tradition of training exceptional EM physicians. Started in 1984 by Dr. Judith Tintinalli. We now have an extensive global alumni network and have trained many national leaders of emergency medicine. We offer residents a hybrid experience with exposure to a diverse patient population with the benefits of both a large community hospital and an academic center. We are affiliated with Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine.

Education

We know how important it is to maximize your exposure and capitalize on your education while thoughtfully balancing your wellness. At William Beaumont University Hospital, you will get exceptional training in a supportive environment. You will begin your training with an orientation month, filled with team-building opportunities and ways to get to know your faculty and classmates. Throughout your training, you will spend a significant amount of time in the ED with the majority of off-service rotations completed within your PGY1 year. Critical care months are built into your schedule during your PGY1 and PGY2 year with a total of 7 months of dedicated critical care time. You will have the opportunity to care for patients in our large community site, spend dedicated time in our pediatric emergency center, and spend a month on our unique Research and Resuscitation rotation. All of this training will maximize your exposure and prepare you to expertly care for any patient who presents for emergency care.
