Research

This program introduces the resident to basic research and its clinical application. Every resident is required to complete at least one scholarly project during residency.  Many residents participate in several projects or publications throughout residency.  

Research is done in cooperation with the program director and approved by institutional authorities. Research projects can be retrospective or prospective in nature.

Residents may present their projects annually through MSU, the AOCR, the in-house research day or various publications as seen below.

Research process

• resident submits a proposal to the Beaumont Hospital, Farmington Hills Resident Research Committee
• the resident and faculty advisor present the proposal before Committee members, get approval and submit to the Beaumont IRB
• the resident may utilize his or her completed project to meet AOCR requirements for scientific papers or exhibits or meet ACGME scholarly activity requirements
