Obstetrics & Gynecology Residency, Trenton


Educational activities

  • OB/GYN lectures weekly
  • tumor board monthly
  • journal club monthly
  • OB/GYN educational day monthly at Michigan State University
  • informal didactics on a daily basis
  • each resident will attend an OB/GYN educational conference yearly

Scheduled rotations

The first years of training are weighted more towards obstetrics, the later years more towards gynecology. They will include

  • gynecologic oncology
  • infertility
  • urogynecology
  • pathology
  • ultrasound
  • high-risk obstetrics

Elective rotations

Will be granted in the third and fourth years with the Program Director’s approval.

Visiting student programs


  • spend time with each of a three-person core faculty group
  • exposure to the responsibilities and duties of a teaching physician, including:
    • rounds with residents
    • private office setting
    • operating room experience

Gyn oncology

  • form a basis of the diagnosis and treatment of most gynecologic malignancies
  • become part of the gynecologic oncology service in the Department of ob/gyn
  • clinical exposure to new patients recently diagnosed with gynecologic malignancy in the office setting
  • operating room exposure to radical surgery to correct gynecologic malignancy

Maternal fetal medicine

  • develop a competence in the sub-specialty of maternal fetal medicine
  • become part of the high risk clinic in the department of ob/gyn
    • in-patient experience at Beaumont Hospital, Dearborn
    • outpatient experience at the resident high risk ob clinic as well as the ultrasound unit
OB ultrasound
Students will develop a competency in Obstetrical Ultrasound including
  • transvaginal ultrasound
  • transabdominal ultrasound
  • targeted ultrasounds

Students will become part of the Fetal Diagnostic unit and have the opportunity to learn about the patients undergoing fetal surveillance such as NSTS and BPPS. 


  • become part of the urogynecology service in the department of ob/gyn
  • gain in-office experience to include
    • history and physical examination
    • performance of the pelvic organ quantitation examination
    • observation of the cystoscopic evaluation
    • performance and observation of the urodynamic testing
    • differential diagnosis
    • operative treatment of multiple pelvic floor disorders
