The Dermatology Residency program at Beaumont Hospital, Trenton is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). This residency program is a categorical match residency through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). It is a 4-year program with the PGY-1 year being completed in the Beaumont, Dearborn Transitional Year Residency Program. Two residents are selected each year through the NRMP. Applications must be submitted through Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). The program does not accept candidates for the Dermatology Program outside of the Match. Residents will be eligible to sit for the American Board of Dermatology (ABD) board examination after successful completion of the program. Residents participate in patient care across inpatient and outpatient health care facilities in the Detroit Metropolitan area.
Our faculty consists of board-certified dermatologists and dermatopathologists. Residents receive extensive training in general medical dermatology, surgery and Mohs, cosmetics, and dermatopathology. Education includes didactics, grand rounds, journal club, and book review lectures. In addition, residents attend annual conferences and participate in Michigan Dermatological Society meetings where they are exposed to rare and interesting cases from around the state.
Dermatology residents take pager call two months per year, and receive a total of 20 days of paid time off. Weekly schedules vary month to month, depending on the rotation and call schedules.
