Corewell Health is the new name for Beaumont.

Overview

The Beaumont Health, Taylor Brain Injury Medicine Fellowship is proud to train physicians to provide compassionate, extraordinary care to a diverse population of patients with neurorehabilitation diagnoses. Our graduates have excelled at achieving academic leadership positions throughout the country. Our goal is to equip our fellow with the tools for evaluation, treatment, and management of this diverse population, and across care settings. Our graduates have the experience and training necessary to carry out an array of procedures including: intrathecal baclofen pump management, chemodenervation for spasticity (with multiple forms of guidance), chemodenervation for chronic migraine in the brain injury population, and greater occipital nerve blocks.

The Fellow will be part of an interdisciplinary team providing state of the art care to persons with traumatic brain injury, sports concussions, stroke, CNS neoplasms, anoxic/hypoxic brain injury, and other brain disorders.

The fellow will have training in inpatient rehabilitation, inpatient consultation, concussion clinic, and follow-up clinic. The fellow will be able to evaluate and manage patients all throughout the continuum of their condition.

Beaumont Taylor Hospital

The fellowship is based out of Beaumont Taylor Hospital which is a full community hospital. One quarter of the beds in the hospital are allocated to inpatient rehabilitation. The hospital offers the support of 24/7 imaging, house physician coverage, and medical beds for escalation of care.

The fellow will spend much of their time taking care of inpatient rehabilitation patients in the 14 bed neurotrauma rehabilitation unit. This unit is dedicated to caring for patients with neurologic injuries that require special attention. All rooms in this unit are private to allow our patients the quiet environment they require for recovery. Telemetry is available in the unit including in the gym for those patients that have cardiac issues that require close monitoring. Most importantly, we have a dedicated, core, group of experienced nurses, aides, and therapists that we can rely on as partners in managing our patients.

Beaumont Dearborn and Trenton Hospitals

These are two additional hospitals at which our fellow rotates. Both hospitals are Level II trauma centers with large catchment areas that include very diverse areas resulting in exposures to a wide spectrum of pathologies. The fellow will spend some time at each hospital during consultation rotations.

Additionally, Beaumont Dearborn is home to the longitudinal clinic and Beaumont Trenton is home to the concussion clinic.
