General Surgery Residency, Dearborn & Trenton

The General Surgery Residency Program at Beaumont Hospital, Trenton and Beaumont Hospital, Dearborn is a fully accredited, five-year program leading to board certification eligibility. The program follows the Score curriculum, facilitating education in general surgery with exposure to surgical sub-specialties.

In addition to being involved with patient care, residents experience

  • weekly didactic session
  • monthly statewide conferences though Michigan State University
  • cadaver lab sessions during their second year
  • skills lab throughout statewide campus
  • monthly journal club

  • Beaumont Hospital, Trenton is a 193-bed hospital and Beaumont Hospital, Dearborn is a 632-bed hospital that provide comprehensive medical and surgical care to communities in southeastern Michigan. they are both level two trauma centers.
  • Trenton (formerly known as Oakwood Southshore Hospital) has 8 residency programs and is affiliated with the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
  • Dearborn (formerly known as Oakwood Hospital) has 4 residency and 2 fellowship programs; it is affiliated with Wayne State University School of Medicine
  • The program is accredited by the AOA and has initial accreditation from the ACGME
  • 4 residents per year chosen through the NRMP as a Beaumont, Dearborn/Trenton Campus program.
