Rotation schedule PGY - 1

  • 2 months general surgery
  • 1 month anesthesia
  • 1 month ICU
  • 1 month Plastic Surgery
  • 1 month Emergency Medicine
  • 6 months ENT

  • Michigan Ear Institute - Otology
  • Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery - Dr. Lewis Clayman
  • Occuloplastics - Dr. Frank Nesi
  • CENTA (Center for Ear, Nose, Throat and Allergy), Indianapolis, IA - head and neck
  • Allergy and Immunology / Rhinology
  • facial plastics - University of Michigan 
  • laryngology - Lakeshore ENT & University of Pittsburgh

Additional funding provided annually for the yearly in service examinations, AAOHNS Home Study Course and several conferences

  • University of Iowa Basic Science, Head & Neck course - PGY-3
  • Endoscopic Sinus Surgery - PGY-2
  • Allergy & Immunology - PGY-5
  • University of Iowa Head & Neck Laser and Sinus Surgery Course - PGY-3
  • Temporal Bone Dissection

Resident responsibilities

  • weekly lectures are presented by residents on topics outlined annually based on COCLIA topics from the AAO-HNS
  • monthly anatomy lab lectures and dissections
  • present cases at Beaumont, Farmington Hills Tumor Board and trauma conferences
  • monthly journal club provides opportunities with core faculty and guest lecturers
  • opportunities for independent temporal bone dissection
