About - Gastroenterology Fellowship

The Division of Gastroenterology-Hepatology at Beaumont, Royal Oak offers a three-year comprehensive fellowship in Gastroenterology. The goal of our fellowship program is to prepare fellows for a career in clinical practice, whether in private practice or in an academic position, emphasizing consultative and endoscopic skills. Training in all endoscopic procedures including 

  • diagnostic endoscopy
  • therapeutic endoscopy
  • ERCP
  • esophageal manometry
  • endoscopic ultrasound

Fellows are expected to participate in clinical or basic research projects, to present their research at regional and national meetings, and to publish their findings.  The three-year fellowship is designed to provide the trainee with an excellent background in pathophysiology and management of gastrointestinal illness and liver disease, extensive experience and expertise in gastrointestinal endoscopy and non-endoscopic procedures, and familiarity with research techniques and concepts.  Fellowship training in hepatology is enhanced by our having a liver transplantation service at Beaumont, Royal Oak. The academic aspects of the fellowship training program are enhanced by Beaumont, Royal Oak, being the main teaching hospital of the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine.
