Being bullied as a child can cause lifelong scars. Adults who experienced bullying during their youth continue to deal with the pain and may benefit from a safe place to talk about concerns that have bothered them for years.

A new support group at Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, the "NoBLE Support Group for Adult Survivors of Bullying," provides a safe environment and open forum to discuss and heal the scars of being bullied. The group meets on Saturdays, from 10-11:30 a.m. at Beaumont Hospital, 3601 W. Thirteen Mile Road, Royal Oak in the South Tower, 9th floor, Ortho Classroom.

"This year we created the state's first hospital-based anti-bullying program to help young people address the pressures of bullying behavior and deal with their fears and concerns," says Marlene Seltzer, M.D., medical director of the NoBLE anti-bullying program at Beaumont Children's Hospital. "Now, we want to extend our reach to those survivors of bullying who would benefit from a forum to discuss, address and move beyond feelings that have bothered them for years."

There is no charge to participate, but donations will be accepted to support the work of Beaumont's NoBLE program. Registration is required by Fridays at 4:30 p.m., prior to each meeting.
