Beaumont Honors Women With Community Events Throughout October

9/23/2009

To honor and celebrate women in Metropolitan Detroit, Beaumont Hospitals has planned a series of health and wellness events coordinated by all three of its hospitals during the month of October. Topics for the events range from diabetes to stress relief to nutrition, and include the Fourth Annual Beaumont Breast Health Fairs.

"We decided to build upon the success of our annual breast health fairs by adding additional events addressing health concerns facing women, including unhealthy lifestyles, increased stress and obesity," says Carla Schwartz, community affairs manager, Beaumont Hospitals. "All of the events are open to the public at no charge. Programs will take place in Grosse Pointe, Royal Oak, St. Clair Shores, Troy and West Bloomfield."

The series kicks off with a breast health fair at the St. Clair Shores Civic Arena Complex on Oct. 1 and concludes with a heart health fair at the Ministrelli Women's Heart Center at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak on Oct. 30.

Other events include, "Hit Me with Your Best Shot" addressing immunizations at Beaumont Hospital, Grosse Pointe; "All About You: Breast Care Wellness" at the Orchard Mall in West Bloomfield; and "How Weight Affects Your Cancer Risk" at Beaumont Hospital, Troy.
