Center for Innovation & Research
The Center for Innovation and Research in Cardiovascular Diseases (CIRC) is an innovative and unique program that aims to improve patient care by integrating high-tech clinical and research services and transferring new medical technology into the community.
CIRC is designed to promote and enhance strong relationships with the medical device industry to bring new and innovative solutions to patient care, and to help our industry partners disseminate these treatments through physician training and education.
CIRC will bring innovative technologies to Beaumont by enhancing participation in early Investigational Device Exemption (IDE) trials, and will help facilitate the regulatory process and promote rapid recruitment into clinical trials. Ultimately, CIRC will create a platform in which streams of new technology come to Beaumont in the form of IDE trials, and after marketing approval, CIRC will help train physicians and ancillary staff to develop their own programs in their local communities, benefiting patients around the nation.
CIRC’s training programs are based on Beaumont’s model of exceptional multidisciplinary collaboration, which includes a team of interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists, cardiac surgeons, cardiac anesthesiologists, vascular surgeons and cardiac imaging specialists. All training opportunities include:
- direct observation of procedures in the viewing room adjacent to Beaumont’s state-of-the-art hybrid operating room, the Tyner Center for Cardiovascular Interventions
- formal lectures in a classroom setting
- hands-on training with devices in the Skills Lab
- simulator training
- BioSkills lab
Beaumont has also developed a digital library of interventional and structural heart procedures, which are also available for teaching and educational purposes.
