Yoga therapy is a complementary healing modality that refers to the adaptation and application of yoga techniques and practices to help individuals facing health challenges at any level manage their condition, reduce symptoms, restore balance, increase vitality, and improve attitude. Yoga therapy is a practice that can be offered individually or in a group setting.

The goal of yoga therapy is to facilitate a compassionate, personalized practice using adaptive, physical activity and meaningful relaxation techniques that help provide people with a way to easily and affordably manage and sustain their own sense of well-being, strength and stability.
Who is a Yoga Therapist?
The yoga therapist is able to substantiate advanced study, training and experience in the practice of yoga and can demonstrate proficiency in the yoga philosophies of health and healing, ethics, techniques, methodologies and practical applications as they apply to yoga.
Level II, 300-hour certification in Yoga Therapy
Graduates of a 200-hr YTT program interested in the applications of Yoga Therapy are invited to apply to the Level II program.
Level II certification in yoga therapy emphasizes
- instruction in the study of symptoms and their causes
- yoga therapy techniques that can assist in reducing physical discomfort as well as the symptoms and effects of disease
- methodologies as they apply to yoga therapy
- case studies and research
- yoga philosophy
A faculty of experienced professionals consisting of E-RYTs, M.D.s and Ph.D.s facilitate all classroom sessions.
A total of 100 practicum hours are required for successful completion of the program. Practicum hours may be in the presence of faculty members or may be documented case studies, private or public classroom yoga therapy teaching hours relating to the areas of study offered through the curriculum.
Graduates of Level II are eligible for registration with Yoga Alliance as a RYT-500, currently the highest certification designation offered by Yoga Alliance.
