Corewell Health is the new name for Beaumont.

Beaumont Health is consistently rated as one of the premier hospital systems in the country, exemplary in clinical care and academic research. Our PEM fellowship is located at Beaumont Royal Oak campus, in Royal Oak, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. This is the location of Beaumont Children's Hospital, a hospital within a hospital, consisting of a 40 bed pediatric floor, 8 bed PICU, 8 progressive beds, and 40 bed NICU. We have a full accompaniment of pediatric subspecialists on staff.

Beaumont Royal Oak houses one the busiest and oldest emergency departments in the country with over 130, 000 visits per year including adult and pediatric visits, a level I adult trauma center and level II pediatric trauma center. Our PEM department and fellowship are housed in this historic EM department. It is a busy emergency center with a robust and vibrant group of EM and PEM faculty. We service a wide encatchment area surrounding metro Detroit suburbs, receiving pediatric transfers from all of our 8 Emergency Departments as well as some more distant locations in northern Michigan.

Our PEM fellowship mission is to provide fellows with exceptional clinical training as well as mastery experience in: scholarly activity/research, educational teaching, and quality improvement and healthcare administration.

PEM Fellows receive the majority of their training at the Royal Oak campus. Our PED area has between 16-24 dedicated beds with overflow capacity, a dedicated pediatric orthopedic procedure room, a negative pressure room, 2 CAT bed rooms, and 1 peds dedicated (flex up to 4) trauma bays. They also rotate at Beaumont Hospital, Troy - a community hospital with a 226-bed hospital that sees nearly 98, 000 patients annually for a procedure elective. The toxicology rotation is at the Michigan Poison Control Center at Wayne State University Toxicology department at the DMC. The Trauma rotation is at St. John Moross.
