Beaumont Healthcare system offers an Obstetrics and Gynecology based Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS) program. This fellowship is of 3 year duration. The fellowship is approved by the American College of Osteopathic Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOOG) and has been granted initial accreditation by the ACGME. The primary aim of our FPMRS fellowship is to train physicians to provide excellent clinical and surgical care to women with pelvic floor disorders based upon evidence, continue to innovate, be compassionate in the care of their patients and educate their colleagues about this constantly evolving field. Dr. Khandwala, a board-certified Ob/Gyn and FPMRS specialist is the program director and is supported by a multispecialty faculty that involves Urology, Colorectal and Gastroenterology. The fellowship covers different aspects of pelvic floor management and puts a strong emphasis on evidence-based medicine. Our fellowship provides for all aspects of education including all types of surgical management including in office procedures. It also includes mentoring and guiding Ob/Gyn residents from three local Ob/Gyn programs. This program is very strong in clinical cases and surgeries and research.
