This one-session class is for adults caring for newborns during the first six weeks of life. During the class, a Beaumont nurse discusses baby's characteristics, holding, bathing, feeding, diapering, burping, crying, sleeping, illness and safety concerns.
For your convenience, Beaumont offers the Baby Care and Safety class as a web-based, independent study.
The Family & Friends CPR course teaches the lifesaving skills of adult Hands-Only® CPR, child CPR with breaths, adult and child Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use, infant CPR and relief of choking in an adult, child or infant. Family & Friends CPR is for people who want to learn CPR but do not need a course completion card in CPR for their job.
This one-session class is designed for expectant fathers and is for dads only. A registered nurse and experienced dad co-teach this class that emphasizes the important role of the new dad. During the class, you will learn about feeding your new baby, holding, changing, bathing, crying, sleeping, signs of illness, development and safety, and get hands-on practice in a safe environment.
Designed for children 3 to 8 years old (though 9 and 10 year olds are also welcome to attend), this class teaches what new babies are like and prepares siblings for their new role as a “big brother” or “big sister.”
In this one-session class, grandparents will learn what to expect with a new grandchild, how things have changed, basic baby care and safety and how grandparents can help the new parents.
Beyond Birth is the final class in your Childbirth Education Series. You should take this class when your baby is between four and eight-weeks of age. During this class, we will talk about postpartum adjustment, time and priorities, as well as parenting myths and realities. We also provide an introduction to infant massage.
This series of three classes teaches about the physical, mental and emotional of your baby at various stages including newborn to 6 months, 6 to 12 months and 1 to 3 years. Babies are welcome to attend the class with you.
In this one-session class, you will learn how to channel your toddler’s youthful energy without dampening their spirit. You will also enjoy an enthusiastic and positive presentation that will teach you tools and strategies for creative parenting.
Designed for infants who are not yet crawling, Infant Massage is a hands-on four-week course for you and your baby. Our certified instructor will guide you through a research-based massage routine that promotes a healthy parent-infant relationship and supports physical growth and development.
During the class, you will learn about what equipment and supplies you will need to prepare your homemade baby food. We will demonstrate various cooking methods and discuss safe storage options. We will prepare some foods in class. Taste testing included!
