Toxicology
Toxicology provides rapid and complete drug screening.
Examples of Commonly Ordered Tests
Comprehensive Urine Toxicology Screen
Urine is initially screened for basic drugs (Toxi-Lab TM), barbiturates (AxSYM TM), for salicylates and ethchlorvinyl (chemical spot tests). Positive findings are confirmed by GC/MS or separately by quantitative serum measurements.
Specific Drug Group Screening
Urine is screened by immunoassay for the presence of drugs. Positive results are confirmed by alternative chromatographic procedures. Drug groups include:

|
|
Drug Identification
Pharmaceuticals or formulations are analyzed by thin-layer chromatography or gas chromatography/mass spectrometry.
Serum is analyzed for the presence of methanol, ethanol, isopropanol and acetone. The agent is specifically quantitated.
Ethylene glycol and propylene glycol are identified and specifically quantitated in serum by gas liquid chromatography.
Tricyclic Antidepressant Screen
The presence of these drugs (Amitriptyline, Nortriptyline, Imipramine, Desipramine, Doxepin) is identified in urine and specifically quantitated in serum by gas liquid chromatography. Urine is required to confirm identification
Barbiturate presence is determined by immunoassay and identified by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. The barbiturate is specifically quantitated in serum by gas liquid chromatography. Barbiturates include:

Therapeutic Drugs These are quantitated in serum by immunological or chromatographic methods. |
