We believe in the importance of research in advancing medical education. Each resident is provided with guidance and the financial support necessary to complete his or her original research project or another scholarly activity. Faculty from all fields of medicine are available to serve as mentors and advisors to residents in these research endeavors. The resources of the Beaumont Research Institute are available to the residents as well.
Residents present their projects at the resident Research Day held at the end of the third year of residency as well as at an outside forum. A number of publications and research symposium awards have resulted from this work. Residents may also complete QI projects, answer clinical questions through the FPIN Network, or write chapters in books to fulfill the scholarly activity requirement.
