The Adolescent Communication Program is designed to treat the needs of pre-teen through young adult patients who are experiencing communication difficulties as a result of various etiologies and feel they would achieve greater stimulation and progress in an adult-like treatment setting. Each treatment session is tailored to meet the unique needs of the patient and family.
Each patient receives a comprehensive evaluation of their communication abilities, administered by a certified Speech-Language Pathologist. Measures are used to assess expressive and receptive speech, language and cognitive skills. Based on the results of the assessment, a unique treatment plan will be created to address the patient's needs. The plan of treatment will focus on providing structured treatment tasks and a functional supplemental treatment program for stimulation of the patient's goals.
What causes communication difficulties?
Communication difficulties can result from developmental disorders, including:
These result in a decline of communication abilities, cognitive functioning and memory skills.
Coverage from most major insurance companies is accepted, but coverage for treatment depends on individual insurance benefits. A physician's referral is required for participation in the Adolescent Communication Program.
