Pregnant Women Need PEP

PEP (Pre-Natal Exercise Program)*

PEP is an exercise class taught by a licensed Physical Therapist, designed for pregnant women at any stage of pregnancy. The class follows the guidelines of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG), and includes an educational component and an exercise period.

*An Obstetrician's written approval is required to participate in PEP.

Purpose

In the PEP class, you will learn:

  • How to keep abdominal muscles strong
  • How to minimize abdominal muscle separation
  • Why posture is important during pregnancy
  • How to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles
  • Flexibility exercises
  • How to maintain good breathing and circulation
  • How to exercise safely before and after delivery
