Center for Reflux & Esophageal Cancer Prevention

Sometimes, an antacid isn’t enough. Not enough to stop the searing heartburn pain that wakes you, not enough to stop the damage acid reflux can cause. And if it isn’t treated properly, acid reflux can lead to esophageal cancer.
Usually, reflux is easily treated and controlled with medication. But about 10 percent of reflux patients develop a precancerous condition (Barrett’s esophagus) or esophageal cancer.
