Gene Michalski is the fifth President and Chief Executive Officer of Beaumont Health System, appointed June 1, 2010. Mr. Michalski previously held the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer from 2006 to 2010 and Senior Vice President and Hospital Director of Beaumont Hospital, Troy from 1997 to 2006. He received his BS in Biology, MS in Physiology and MBA in Finance from Wayne State University.
Mr. Michalski held the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Saint Francis Hospital, Evanston, Illinois from 1992 to 1996. Prior to 1992, Mr. Michalski held the following positions at Beaumont: Senior Associate Hospital Director, 1988; Associate Hospital Director, 1983; Assistant Hospital Director, 1980; and Administrative Assistant, 1978.
Mr. Michalski's professional activities include past President Elect on the Evanston Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, past member of the Board of Directors of Evanston Inventure, and he was a member of the Northern Illinois Business Association.
He is the past president of the Board of Directors, Oakland County EMS Medical Control Authority, the Michigan Healthcare Executives Group and Associates, and the American Cancer Society, Oakland County Chapter. He is a past member of the Board of Directors of the American Heart Association and the past president of the Midwest Healthcare Executive Group and Associates (MHEGA).
Mr. Michalski is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He currently serves as the delegate for the AHA Regional Policy Board Region 5. He is a member of the Michigan Health and Hospital Association Executive Committee and Board of Trustees, a member of the Greater Detroit Area Health Council Executive Committee and Board of Trustees, a member of the Oakland County of Michigan Medical Main Street Board, and a member of the Detroit Regional Chamber Board of Directors.
Michalski is a former recipient of the Michigan Health and Hospital Association Health Care Leadership Award, was named a Crain's 2012 "Newsmaker Of The Year" and to Becker's Hospital Review's list of 100 nonprofit hospital and health system "CEOs to Know."
