Beaumont Health System Sleep Evaluation Services, St. Clair Shores, has received national accreditation from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. AASM is the national accrediting body for sleep disorders centers, dedicated to setting standards and promoting excellence in sleep medicine health care, education and research.

The AASM accreditation is for five years and is renewable. There are more than 2,500 AASM-accredited sleep centers across the country.

Beaumont Sleep Evaluation Services has been recognized for meeting or exceeding standards designated by the AASM. These standards address core areas such as personnel, facility and equipment, policies and procedures, data acquisition, patient care and quality assurance.

"This accreditation is a major step in recognizing the excellence of Beaumont’s Sleep Evaluation Services," says Mary Ellen Welling, director, Sleep Evaluation Services, Beaumont Health System. “By following the AASM’s guidelines, we assure the highest quality care and patient safety standards are provided to our patients.”

Beaumont’s sleep evaluation program uses a multidisciplinary approach to treat many sleep disorders, including: sleep apnea, narcolepsy, REM behavior disorders and restless legs syndrome. The program is designed to help people who have trouble getting enough quality sleep or who have trouble staying awake. Beaumont physicians and other trained professionals at the clinic are experienced both in sleep-related disorders and in medical conditions contributing to impaired sleep quality.

Beaumont Sleep Evaluation Services offers sleep programs in Berkley, Macomb Township and St. Clair Shores.
