Southeast Michigan community donations help provide comfort to hospitalized children with Beau the Bear

Children can find a hospital stay daunting and often can leave them feeling apprehensive about their treatment and unfamiliar surroundings. Distress can affect how children recover from injury or illness. The staff at Beaumont Children’s Hospital promote the importance of keeping children comforted during their recovery with the use of stuffed animals like Beau the Bear. Southeast Michigan agrees! Numerous donations have been given to Beaumont Children’s Hospital via its crowdfunding platform, GiveMiracles.org, developed by Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals to help fund several items on the hospital’s wish list, including Comfort Stuffed Animals for patients. But, the hospital still seeks help funding to provide the needed comfort for its patients.

“For only $4, we are able to provide a Beau the Bear stuffed animal for one of our patients, which helps them feel some comfort of home while being treated at our hospital,” says Brian Berman, M.D., pediatrician-in-chief, Beaumont Children’s Hospital. “We appreciate the many donations that have been given from the community, and hope to continue raising funds for not only Beau the Bear stuffed animals, but also other items that will help our patients while staying at Beaumont Children’s Hospital.”

Beaumont Children’s Hospital’s partnership with Give Miracles, a CMN Hospitals program, provides donors three options to help the hospital fund its greatest needs. Through the website, www.givemiracles.org, donors are given the opportunity to choose from crowdfunding, general, or gifted donations. With the crowdfunding option, individuals and groups are able to combine donations to purchase items ranging from Art and Creative Supplies to Patient Treatment Scholarships.
