Professional Nurse Council hosts ‘Supporting Smiles’ garage sale for Craniofacial and Cleft Palate Clinic

Rather than throwing away unused household items, consider donating them to help children with craniofacial conditions have a better life.

The Professional Nurse Council at Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak encourages everyone to take part in its "Supporting Smiles" garage sale May 17 and 18 at the Northwood Shopping Center. All proceeds will be donated to the Ian Jackson Craniofacial and Cleft Palate Clinic helping children with head or facial deformities.

"We wanted to find an innovative way to raise money and awareness for the Ian Jackson Craniofacial and Cleft Palate Clinic that provides tremendous care, support and encouragement for the patients it treats," says PNC committee member, Lisa Muma, R.N.

Proceeds from the garage sale will also provide surgical scholarships for children whose families can't afford their surgery.

Item drop-off, the "Early Bird" opening and the regular sale will all take place at the former Secretary of State office in Northwood Shopping Center, 13 Mile and Woodward in Royal Oak. Donated items can be dropped-off:

  • Friday, May 10 from 2 to 8 p.m.
  • Saturday, May 11 from 8 to 11 a.m.
