Registration for gaming fundraiser going on now at Extra-Life.org

Families, individuals and game groups are coming together to help sick and injured children treated at Beaumont Children's Hospital with a fundraiser on Saturday, Nov. 2 called Extra Life. This event, in coordination with Children's Miracle Network Hospitals across North America, adds a life-saving purpose to playing video, board and lawn games.

Gamers can register for free at www.Extra-Life.org and select Beaumont Children's Hospital as their charity of choice. Once a fundraising account and goal is established, participants ask friends and family to support their game day.

"Extra Life was a big success for us last year," says Matt Romkey, associate director, Children's Miracle Network, Beaumont Children's Hospital. "All funds raised by gamers in Southeast Michigan stay here and benefit the kids at Beaumont Children's Hospital."

To encourage the power of group fundraising, this year's gaming communities who raise the most collective funds can win up to $60,000 for their local hospital. More information is available at http://blog.extra-life.org/2013/09/diablos-extra-life-challenge.html.

In addition, this year Sony Computer Entertainment America, makers of PlayStation, have teamed up with Extra Life to drive and awareness and donations for Beaumont Children's Hospital. Free games and a grand prize are available for reaching fundraising levels up to $100. "Every year since 2008, the gaming community has increasingly embraced Extra Life as a way to give back locally for the love of gaming," says Jeromy 'Doc' Adams, Extra Life founder and program director. "We're gearing up to have our best fundraising year yet! Local gamers are the reason this program has taken off and raised millions for hospitals needing help."
