On Thursday, Aug. 11, Metro Detroit will be hit with a rare summer blizzard.
More specifically, it will be a day of Dairy Queen® Blizzard®Treats to benefit area children. For the fifth consecutive year, Dairy Queen's Miracle Treat Day invites people to come out to area stores, enjoy a cold, refreshing ice cream treat and raise funds for services and equipment for hospitalized children.
Participating Dairy Queens in Metro Detroit will donate proceeds from the sale of each Blizzard®Treat sold that day to the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and Southeast Michigan's representative, the Beaumont Children's Hospital. Children's Miracle Network Hospitals is a charity that raises funds for more than 170 children's hospitals across the United States and Canada and ensures that when a donation is made, it stays in the local community, so that every dollar given goes to help local kids.
"With the recent heat wave in Michigan, Dairy Queen's Miracle Treat Day is coming at a perfect time to cool people down," says Tom McGannon, associate vice president, Beaumont Foundation. "We appreciate our DQ partners and their ongoing support to raise funds that help local kids through Children's Miracle Network Hospitals."
Last year on Miracle Treat Day, participating Dairy Queenlocations throughout the United States and Canada raised nearly $5 million for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals in local communities. The Dairy Queen systemis one of the top 10 contributors to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals having raised more than $86 million since 1984.
So, whether you choose the annual fan favorite Oreo® "Treat of the Day" or the new Nutter Butter® Blizzard of the Month for August or any other flavor, you can do it for the kids. For more information about Miracle Treat Day, visit MiracleTreatDay.com.
