Beaumont Grosse Pointe hosts fitness open house

The Community Health Promotion department at Beaumont Hospital, Grosse Pointe hosted a fitness open house on at the . The afternoon event included demonstrations and free workouts, featuring the center's fitness program. Certified personal trainers and fitness instructors were on hand to answer questions. Visitors were invited to tour and try the weight room.

"No membership is required and the cost of the classes won't break the bank," said Peggy Kurza, Community Health Promotion coordinator at Beaumont, Grosse Pointe. "Investing in your health and making time for you is the best gift you can give your family and yourself."

The Fitness Program Open House was scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 3, from 4 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., at the Bon Brae Center, 22300 Bon Brae (at Jefferson Avenue, between 10 and 11 Mile roads), in St. Clair Shores. The new 11-week fitness programs schedule starts on Monday, Jan. 7. Classes range from high- to low-energy cardio for all ages (adults) and skill levels. A wide variety of days and times provides plenty of options for already-busy schedules.

Classes offered include: FastFIT, a 30-minute strength and conditioning routine on Nautilus®; SeniorFIT for anyone 60 years and older; Osteoporosis Exercise for those managing osteoporosis; Senior Strength and Conditioning to help strenthen bones, increase energy levels and improve muscle tone; SeniorVIGOR, a 13-station Nautilus® approach to fitness; Women and Weights for strengthening and toning; and Cardio and Cross Training, a fun yet effective cardiovascular workout. Other classes focus on yoga, total strength and Tai Chi.
