Beaumont, Grosse Pointe hosting baby fair for new and expecting parents

Beaumont Health System is hosting a “Beaumont Baby Fair” to provide new and expecting parents in Grosse Pointe and surrounding communities free information, demonstrations and activities. It will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, May 19 at Assumption Cultural Center, 21800 Marter Road, St. Clair Shores.

Those attending can learn about Beaumont birthing centers, including the Shery L. and David B. Cotton, M.D. Family Birth Center at Beaumont, Grosse Pointe, sign up for tours and get information on newborn health, postnatal care and parenting concerns.

A luncheon will be held at the fair from noon to 1:30 p.m. with guest speaker, Deanna Robb, director of Beaumont’s Parenting Program,  presenting “Adjustments to Parenthood and Self Care.” Registration for the luncheon is required as seating is limited. “While we have hosted the baby fair for 11 years at Beaumont, Royal Oak, this is the first year to bring the fair to communities surrounding Beaumont, Grosse Pointe, says Robb. “ We hope to educate new and expecting parents about the many pre- and postnatal programs we offer at Beaumont, Grosse Pointe, and throughout Beaumont Health System.” 

At the fairs, Beaumont experts will offer mini-classes addressing:

  • infant and child CPR 
  • comfort measures during labor 
  • infant care
  • infant massage
  • homemade baby food

Informational, interactive displays include:
