Pharmacy Residency Programs

Outpatient Clinic

At Beaumont, Royal Oak, approximately 60 internal medicine medical residents are trained each year. Medical residents see patients in the Outpatient Clinic. Clinic staff also includes approximately 14 registered nurses. The outpatient clinics at Royal Oak provide comprehensive care for 57,000 patient visits per year.

We offer patient care in the areas of internal medicine, gastroenterology, neurology, obstetrics/gynecology, infectious diseases/HIV, pediatrics, surgical, rheumatology, dermatology, ear/nose/throat, endocrinology, pulmonary and child advocacy protection.

Patient Population

The patient population in the outpatient clinics includes those that have no insurance, Michigan Medicaid, Medicare, as well as privately insured patients; therefore, the Ambulatory Care PGY-2 resident will gain experience dealing with different socioeconomic and financial issues related to drug and healthcare costs with our patient population.

Pharmacist Responsibilities

The Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Specialists are involved in educating medical residents and assisting in pharmacotherapy decision-making in various areas of internal medicine. In addition, we practice in the Outpatient Clinic Anticoagulation Service (OCAS) as well as the Diabetes and Pulmonary Clinics. In lieu of drug therapy cost issues, we manage a patient assistance program to help patients achieve the best therapeutic outcomes.
