Corewell Health is the new name for Beaumont.

The ASHP-accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency program at Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak has been training residents since 1977. Each year, the Department of Pharmaceutical Services accepts six new PGY1 pharmacy residents into the program. Our department also offers a 2-year non-traditional PGY1 residency program (started in 2013) to pharmacists who have been employed in our department for a minimum of 1 year. The PGY 1 program strives to meet the needs of the resident based on previous experience, pharmacy practice interests and individual goals of the candidate.

A PGY1 Residency at Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak will provide residents with:

  • Training in a 1,100 bed acute care, teaching, Level 1 adult and Level II pediatric trauma center
  • Over twenty-five highly trained clinical preceptors committed to education, patient care, and research
  • A wide variety of clinical and non-patient care learning experiences
  • Experience of an on-call program
  • Precepting responsibilities for Doctor of Pharmacy students
  • A residency advisor to help guide professional development throughout the year in terms of goals for the residency and individual career planning
  • The opportunity to apply for leadership position including chief resident and various chair positions
  • A year of continual longitudinal development
  • The option to complete the Wayne State University Teaching and Learning Curriculum Certificate Program
