Objectives

  • Discuss the prevalence, signs and symptoms of stroke
  • Review American Stroke Association guidelines and recommendations for the treatment of stroke
  • Describe the correlation of atrial fibrillation, and the increased risk of stroke
  • Discuss carotid artery stenosis, Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO)/Atrial Septal Defects (ASD), and the use of Novel Oral Anticoagulants in stroke patients
