A Naturopathic doctor has completed four years of pre-med studies, four years of graduate school at an accredited naturopathic medical university and has successfully passed North American-wide licensing exams, known as NPLEX.
Nutritional Supplements - Vitamins, amino acids, and other nutritional supplements are recommended on a case by case basis to restore balance in the body. These can help to address underlying nutritional deficiencies, balance hormones, support detoxification, improve mood, boost immunity and improve digestive function.
Diet - Our Naturopathic doctors look at dietary patterns and make recommendations to balance blood sugar, decrease inflammation, eliminate food sensitivities, and optimize wellness.
Herbal Medicine - Many plant substances are powerful medicines when used properly. Their organic nature makes botanicals compatible with the body’s own chemistry, and they can be gently effective for decreasing inflammation & supporting immunity. As with nutritional supplements, botanicals can be used in conjunction with conventional treatments to reduce their side effects and enhance their effectiveness, but care must be taken to avoid herb drug interactions.
Homeopathy - Homeopathy is based on the understanding that natural substances, prepared in very diluted doses, can prompt the body to self correct. Symptoms that may respond well to homeopathy include auto-immune conditions, allergies, trauma recovery and conditions that don’t fit into a clear conventional diagnosis.
Naturopathic medicine and drug interactions - Our Naturopathic doctors closely monitor your supplement and vitamin intake in order to avoid drug interactions. They will go through your medication list to monitor for drug-induced nutrient depletions and to avoid drug-herb and drug-nutrient interactions.

Hallie Armstrong has worked in a variety of clinical settings including two inner city clinics in Toronto, an integrative medicine clinic in Shelby Township, and a multidisplinary clinic in West Bloomfield. She believes it is vital to treat the whole person and is dedicated to providing patients with a team based approach to wellness.
Hallie earned her bachelors degree from Michigan State and graduated as a naturopathic doctor from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto. In her practice, she has worked with diverse populations to treat physical and mental health concerns. She specializes in women's health and pediatrics.
Hallie regularly contributes articles to local newspapers and lectures on health topics such as menopause, detoxification, Attention Deficit Disorder and cancer prevention.
Leslie Nicholas has been practicing naturopathic medicine for over 20 years, having graduated from the National College of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon. Oregon licensure and full prescribing authority for ND's enabled Leslie to practice as a primary care physician.
Most recently, she was an assistant professor and attending physician, leading teaching shifts in community clinics throughout Portland and at the main teaching clinic of NCNM. She lectured frequently at Grand Rounds and Resident Education.
Her experience includes working in integrative clinics with very diverse populations including Asian/Pacific Islanders, Latinos, patients in recovery with drug and alcohol addictions, homeless youth, LGBTQ community members, and anyone looking to improve their health and well-being.
Dr. Saunders, Adjunct Professor of Materia Medica, Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, has been in private practice in Dundas, Ontario, Canada since 1991and now comes to Beaumont to see patients. His earned a Ph.D. in plant ecology from Duke University, was on the faculty at Clemson University, and tenured at Washington State University. He earned his ND from the College of Naturopathic Medicine, and did additional training and residency at National College of Naturopathic Medicine, Portland, Oregon, earned a second ND, served as their interim Research Director, and initiated their Institutional Review Board.
He earned a Diplomate from the Homeopathic Academy of Naturopathic Physicians (DHANP) and Certified Classical Homeopath (CCH) from the American Council on Homeopathic Certification in 1993. He completed chelation board examinations from the International College of Integrated Medicine in 1998. As Editor, The Canadian Journal of Herbalism, 2000-2002, he instituted peer-review. He does grant reviews for the NIH, NCCAM. He has honored as Ontario Naturopathic Doctor of the Year in 1994 and 2002. In 1999 he was a member of the Transition Team that established the Office of Natural Health Products, Health Canada, served on its Expert Advisory Committee to 2006, and served as an expert on various subcommittees. He has co-authored three books, served as an expert legal witness, conducted clinical research, published numerous papers, and lectured frequently on naturopathic medicine.
