Donna Hoban, M.D., Senior Vice President, Physician-in-Chief, Medical Services, Beaumont, Grosse Pointe

Donna Hoban, M.D. is senior vice president and physician-in-chief, Medical Services, Beaumont Hospital, Grosse Pointe. Along with her leadership role, she's a practicing physician at a private practice in St. Clair Shores. She has been with Shorepointe Family Physicians since 1990. Dr. Hoban has been a faculty member of the Beaumont, Grosse Pointe Family Practice Residency training program since 1992, and has been board certified by the American Academy of Family Physicians since 1990.

Prior to her career in medicine she was an educator. Dr. Hoban was a high school teacher in Warren. After six years of teaching, she traded in her chalk for a stethoscope.

Dr. Hoban received her Bachelor of Science from Michigan State University in 1975 and was a teacher at Warren Woods High School from 1975 to 1981.

She then opted out of teaching for a career in medicine. After earning her medical degree from Wayne State University in 1987, Dr. Hoban completed her residency at Bon Secours Hospital Family Practice from 1987 to 1990.

From 1992 to 1997, Dr. Hoban was Medical Director at Bon Secours Nursing Care Center. She was director of Geriatric Education for the Bon Secours Internal Medicine Residency training program from 1996 to 2002.

Dr. Hoban was a member of the Board of Directors of Bon Secours of Michigan from 1996 to 1998 and 1999 to 2004, and was also President-Elect of Bon Secours Cottage Health Services in 2003.

From 2005 to 2006, Dr. Hoban served as president of the medical staff at Bon Secours Cottage Health Services. Beaumont Hospitals purchased Bon Secours in 2007 renaming it Beaumont Hospital, Grosse Pointe. She was named senior vice president and director, Medical Services for Beaumont, Grosse Pointe at that time.

Dr. Hoban has received honors such as "Teacher of the Year" from Bon Secours Family Practice Residents and Bon Secours Internal Medicine Residents, as well as "Top Doc," by Monthly Detroit Magazine, HOUR Detroit Magazine and Woodward and White's "Best Doctors in America."
