Program Requirements

The resident must meet the following requirements for employment at Beaumont Hospital as the PGY-2 Critical Care resident:

  • Licensed pharmacist or eligible for licensure in the State of Michigan (including controlled substance license)
  • Successful completion of a PGY-1 ASHP accredited residency

Longitudinal Requirements

  • Complete all scheduled presentations, including pharmacy noon conference (3 total) and pharmacy grand rounds (1) 
  • Complete MUE or Medication Safety Project and present findings at ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting
  • Complete 3 of the following 4 projects: 
    • MUE
    • Medication Safety Project
    • Complete the requirements for submission for publication of a review article, case report, drug information question or another project at the discretion of the residency program director and steering committee
    • Complete the requirement for the Teaching Certificate Program at WSU if not already completed during PGY-1 Residency
  • Update and maintain residency binder
  • Maintain consistent documentation of interventions during both weekends and all rotations
  • Meets weekend staffing requirements for the entire residency year (every third weekend)
  • Support the precepting of Doctor of Pharmacy Students and PGY-1 Pharmacy Residents (if applicable)
  • Present 2 CEs to Pharmacy Staff (residency project results and another of resident’s choosing)
  • Active participation in the Critical Care Subcommittee of the MMC
  • Achieve ACLS certification
  • Complete research project
