The Beaumont Hospital, Troy Family Medicine Residency Program is dually accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). Our program is affiliated with the Osteopathic Postdoctoral Training Institution (OPTI) that is sponsored by Michigan State University. Beaumont has a long-standing history of supporting osteopathy and osteopathic physicians in the community.
With dual accreditation we hope to attract osteopathic physicians that are not only well qualified and devoted to primary care but who will also add another dimension of health care for our patients. Osteopathic philosophy, principals, and manipulative medicine will be taught throughout the resident's training in a longitudinal fashion as the goal is to integrate osteopathic concepts in all areas of family medicine. Osteopathic residents will be required to take both the ACGME and ACOFP inservice training exams and to sit for both the ABFP and AOBFP licensing board exams upon completion of residency training.
