This page describes the process to earn CME credit for attending grand rounds, case conferences, tumor boards, M&M, journal clubs, committee meetings only.

Claim CME Credit via TEXT Message

Beaumont CME has a mobile phone TEXT-based process to claim credits.  Each meeting has a unique numerical code that must be sent via text message during the lecture in order for credits to be recorded. Credits claimed using the new text-based process will instantly be added to your CME credit report.

Claim CME Credit Online

For Allopathic CME Only

If you are unable to claim credits via text message, you can still claim credits through the online process. Credits claimed online will be manually added to your CME credit report on a quarterly basis.

For Osteopathic CME

To receive osteopathic credit for medical teaching, credit must be claimed through the online form available here.

For Speakers/Presenters

The American Medical Association (the owner of the CME credit system) does not allow accredited CME providers (i.e., Beaumont Health Department of Continuing Medical Education) to award credits to physicians for their own presentations. Per the AMA, “A physician who prepares and presents an original presentation at a live activity that has been certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ may apply directly to the AMA for credit. Information about direct credit can be found at www.ama-assn.org/go/directcredit.

However, if there were other presentations given by other individuals in conjunction with your presentation, you may claim credits for other segments you may have attended as a participant.

For Residents and Fellows

Physicians in training involved in an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-approved program are not eligible for claiming CME credits at CME certified conferences.

To obtain the American Medical Association Physicians Recognition Award (AMA PRA) and/or AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM for participating in an ACGME-approved residency/fellowship program, the physician must claim this directly from the AMA by completing the Resident Credit Application.
