Research shows that major complications and mortality risks are lower at medical centers that perform a high volume of complicated gastrointestinal, pancreatic and hepatobiliary surgeries like minimally invasive liver resections or Whipple procedures for pancreatic cysts and tumors.
That’s why choosing a hospital for surgery could be the most important decision you ever make. Each year, Beaumont surgeons perform thousands of comprehensive surgical treatments involving the esophagus, stomach, duodenum, liver, gallbladder, bile ducts, pancreas and intestine. Our gastrointestinal, pancreatic and hepatobiliary surgeons work closely with faculty of our nationally recognized divisions of Gastroenterology, Medical and Radiation Oncology, Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology and Nuclear Medicine to provide a team approach designed to meet each patient’s individual needs.

Beaumont offers patients with gastrointestinal, pancreatic or hepatobiliary malignancy the opportunity to participate in clinical trials though our involvement with the American College of Surgeons Oncology Group. Additionally, the Beaumont tumor registry provides a database for ongoing clinical research. New initiatives for the evaluation and follow-up of patients with cystic lesions of the pancreas are being used to help define the natural history and cancer risk of these abnormalities.
