School of Radiation Therapy Program Description

The School of Radiation Therapy was established in 1994 as part of the Department of Radiation Oncology. The Radiation Oncology department offers the most progressive therapy today. The department uses state-of-the-art technology to treat patients. The staff consists of radiation oncologists (physicians in the specialty of cancer), nurses, registered radiation therapists, dosimetrists and physicists.

The School of Radiation Therapy accepts up to five students into its 24-month program each year. Training begins in September and finishes two years later. The students will spend 40 hours a week in clinical rotations and classroom instruction in the Radiation Oncology department for a total of more than 450 contact hours of classroom instruction and more than 2,000 contact hours of clinical instruction.

The Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) accredits the school.
