Outpatient Program

Outpatient ProgramThe Adult Outpatient Program at Beaumont's Rehabilitation and Health Center in Birmingham offers a number of group programs for stroke survivors and others dealing with communication loss resulting from brain injuries such as cerebral aneurysm, tumor and anoxia.

This active program is for patients who are more than one year past the initial injury. There are generally no more than six participants who are grouped by age, recovery level and other compatibilities.

Thanks to a special funding source, these groups are offered at a low cost. While an initial interview and commitment to attendance is required, the groups are open to anyone coping with changes after brain injury.

Groups in the following areas are offered on a regular schedule:

  • Stroke Survivor (or related disorders) Communication Loss Support Groups
  • Caregiver Support Groups
  • Speech and Language Stimulation Groups
  • Nonverbal Communication Groups
  • Communication Loss After Stroke Information/Education Groups
